RailWorks Rail Driving SIM
Anyway it's sold as that on Steam.
It's actually way more than that, it's a virtual sandbox allowing you to create realistic terrains using USGS digital elevation maps. Mountains, rivers, all that at your fingertips. Many items are animated, the grass blows in the wind, water has wind ripples, etc. Limited map size though, you can only create a circle that is 600 miles from the center start position.
Clocks run in real time, if you travel at 45 MPH (80 KPH) you go 45 map miles in that hour. Inertia is not your friend! Stopping an 80 car train from 45 MPH takes a virtual mile or more. Realistic cab views, and detailed models make it an immersive experience.
If you like railroading, give it a try.
